Window Washing Best Practices

Window Washing Best Practices

Window washing can be affected by multiple variables (time applied, sunlight, temperature, etc), so it is best to follow these practices for good results:

  • Lucid Clear is mixed at a low concentration with water, so you can fill the 7-gallon surfactant tank with it to get a steady pull for the mix. The spray should be slightly soapy with soap appearing on windows after you hit them.

  • We recommend trying to have the Lucid Clear solution applied rinsed off of the window in under 5 minutes. This isn't a strict deadline, but you can't let Lucid Clear sit on the window for longer than 25 minutes, or else multiple rinsing flights will be needed.

  • It is best to wash windows while they are shaded, this leaves less time for direct sunlight to dry the chemical onto the window's surface. Lucid Clear won't harm a window if it is dried on there, but it does make rinsing much more difficult.

  • When window washing, it is best to use two separate hose lines, one for your chemical line and one for your water rinse line. Both should be extended so that they can quickly be changed to go from applying Lucid Clear to rinsing with water. Using only one hose is possible, but it is much harder to efficiently clean with only one hose as it takes time to switch from a water-chem mix to just water, and your water runs the chance of picking up residual chemical in left in the hose line. For this reason, we recommend using a two hose approach for window cleaning.

  • When rinsing, use the DI filter if it is possible, as De-Ionized water rinses a window better and leaves a smaller chance for the water to cling and create water spots after rinsing.

  • When rinsing, it is easier to spray your water at the top of the frame of the window and let it cascade down. You can rinse every spot, but it is smart to start and end with rinsing the top and cascading the water down the window. Lucid Clear also has built-in enzymes that enhance the cascading effect when it is rinsed with water.

  • It is still best practice to rinse the plant life and environment before and after cleaning with Lucid Clear
